An Iranian Jewish lawmaker has called on the United Nations to take decisive action against Israel following the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on Friday.

Dr. Homayoun Sameh, the representative of Iran’s Jewish community in the country’s parliament, condemned what he described as the "criminal Zionist regime" during an interview with Iran’s ISNA news agency. Sameh accused Israel of deliberately targeting civilians, claiming that its military operations have resulted in the deaths of innocent men, women, and children.

He dismissed Israeli assertions that its strikes on residential areas were intended to destroy weapons stockpiles, stating that such explanations are nothing more than attempts to justify war crimes.

The lawmaker urged the international community to move beyond mere condemnations and take tangible steps to hold Israel accountable for its actions.

Meanwhile, the Jewish communities of Isfahan and Tehran released a joint statement expressing sorrow over Nasrallah’s assassination and offering their condolences.

"Nasrallah was martyred in a cruel act perpetrated by the Zionist regime," the statement read. "The Jewish community in Iran stands in solidarity with the Islamic nation and mourns the loss of a historic leader who shaped the destiny of the Lebanese people. Those behind the crime in Beirut, supported by the U.S. administration, will face severe vengeance."
