Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appealed today (Thursday) to the Iranian people in a pre-recorded video statement complete with subtitles in Farsi in a statement listing all the failures of the Islamist Republic.
Netanyahu began by noting how angry Iranians must feel to see tens of billions of dollars "going up in smoke" defending Assad's Syria, which fell within 11 days, arming Hamas whose army and capabilities are in ruins, and supporting Hezbollah, which has lost so many fighters and rockets.
Imagine, he told them, how many roads and hospitals and other amenities could be built with that money instead of trying to "conquer other nations," as Netanyahu put it.
The Prime Minister then said that he believes that the Iranian Islamist regime is afraid first and foremost of the Iranian People themselves, and that he believes a time will come when Iran will be free and be at peace with Israel.
Watch the whole thing here:
According to Iran International, Iran is indeed suffering economically in multiple ways, including suffering fuel shortages, declining revenues from oil sales due to economic slowdowns among Chinese refiners, and a major budget deficit.
Strikes and protests have broken out in various parts of the country among nurses, pensioners, and farmers over shortages and cost of living issues, though none of these has yet coalesced into a mass protest movement.
