Israeli travelers, traveling in the old city of Split, Croatia, a country considered a friend of Israel, were shocked to discover yesterday (Saturday) that the owners of the Fontana restaurant in the city were not willing to provide them with service.

"It's a lovely country, with nice people. Most of them go out of their way to help tourists and this time we were negatively surprised," said Michal, who went on a trip with her husband.

She said that when they arrived at the restaurant and asked to order, the owner asked them for their country of origin and then drama began. "He made a sour face at us and said he didn't want Israelis and Jews to shop with him, and left. "I imagine it's because of the war in Gaza, but it didn't happen to us anywhere on the trip. It's an unpleasant feeling."

A. and her father also had a similar incident the other day when they arrived at the scene. In a post on the Facebook page "Croatia for Official Group Travelers," A. revealed that her father ordered a portion of food, and when the owner learned that he was Israeli, he decided not to serve him and asked him to leave the restaurant. "As soon as the seller heard he was from Israel, he asked him to leave the restaurant," A. wrote. "It wasn't pleasant."
