A fatal car accident occurred this evening (Sunday) on Highway 1 near the settlement of Mitzpe Jericho, claiming the lives of two infants. Firefighters and volunteers from the Binyamin Regional Station recently worked to rescue victims from a fatal car accident on Highway 1 near the settlement of Mitzpe Yericho.
Senior Firefighter Shlomo Mizrahi, the shift commander: "Upon arriving at the scene, I identified a single-vehicle accident involving a truck that had overturned on its side." At the scene, there were several injured people trapped inside the truck. The firefighters immediately began rescue operations at the complex scene using specialized hydraulic tools. After the rescue, the trapped individuals were transferred for further medical treatment.
Deputy Superintendent Ido Peretz, Commander of the Benjamin Regional Station: "This is a very difficult scene that I haven't seen in many years." Two infants, unfortunately, lost their lives, one of whom we found during the search to clear the scene, and both parents were injured severely and even required extraction.
The firefighters operated at the scene with determination, emphasizing a quick rescue to expedite the medical evacuation. We will remain on the scene in the near future to conduct further searches in order to secure the area definitively.
