Israel to build 309-mile Jordan border fence to prevent Iran threats
Israel will begin constructing a 309-mile security fence along its Jordanian border in June, equipped with advanced sensors and surveillance, to counter Iranian-backed threats, despite uncertainties about troop deployment following Hamas’s breach of Gaza’s tech-heavy fence in 2023. The project, spurred by Defense Minister Israel Katz’s call last August and long-standing warnings from military officials, aims to fortify a largely unprotected border where outdated fencing has failed to stop the smuggling of tens of thousands of weapons over the past decade.
