Terrorist Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, who was accused of shooting an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man who was on his way to Friday prayers at a synagogue in Chicago in late October, was found dead in his Cook County jail cell, the local sheriff's office said Sunday.

Abdullahi, 22, was found unconscious during a routine check-up on Saturday. The prison staff tried to perform CPR on him, and he was transferred to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The initial assessment is that he committed suicide by hanging, but the exact circumstances will be determined after an autopsy.

The terrorist was accused of shooting a 39-year-old Jewish man who was on his way to a synagogue in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on October 26. The Jew was shot in the shoulder, treated in the hospital and later released.

According to the Chicago police, the terrorist was seen on a security camera shouting "Allahu Akbar" before approaching the victim from behind and shooting him. The assailant hid for a short time, then returned to the scene and fired at police officers and paramedics who were called to the scene. During the exchange of fire, the assailant also hit an ambulance that was at the scene.
