The New York Post reported that Melania Trump declined the offer to meet with Jill Biden next Wednesday. An associate who spoke with sources at the newspaper claims that the reason for this lies in the federal raid approved by the Biden administration on the Trump couple's residence.
"She is not going to meet with her at the White House," an anonymous source told the daily, adding that Melania refused the invitation to the traditional White House hosting ceremony, citing the federal raid authorized by the Biden administration on their personal belongings as part of the investigation into the classified documents case.
As a reminder, in August 2022, the FBI raided Donald Trump's residence at Mar-a-Lago, the couple's vacation home in Florida, as part of the investigation into the classified documents case—claims that were dismissed by the Florida court, which stated that Trump had over 300 classified documents at his vacation estate.
"I saw unpleasant things that no one wants to see," Melania recounted about the raid experience in an interview with the media. "You are angry because, you know, no one should have to suffer things like this."
Apart from that, no additional disruptions are expected. The elected president, Donald Trump, is expected to conduct a formal and customary transfer of power which became clear following todays meeting with President Biden at the White House.
