Uproar in the Torah and Hasidic city of Bnei Brak: A group of extremist children and youth, already in their Bein Hazmanim period, humiliated and harassed a group of soldiers today (Tuesday) who came for a tour of the city streets.
According to available footage, the youths followed the shocked soldiers through 'Chazon Ish' streets, via Rabbi Hirsch Street, Anilewicz, to the area of the municipality, where the soldiers boarded vehicles and left the city.
The Bnei Brak municipality condemned the act and added that the youths do not represent the city: "The Bnei Brak municipality strongly condemns the serious incident that took place in the city, during which a group that does not represent the city's residents harmed IDF soldiers. We view with great severity any harm to IDF soldiers who risk their lives for the security of us all."
The municipality added: "Such behavior does not represent the values of the Torah and the values of the public in our city and contradicts the path of the Torah of Israel, which educates for respect for others. The Bnei Brak municipality and its leader strengthen the security forces and work in full cooperation with law enforcement agencies to bring those responsible to justice. The municipality adopts a zero-tolerance policy in such cases, both in verbal violence and physical violence, God forbid. Together we will work to strengthen unity and solidarity in the people of Israel."
The chairman of United Torah Judaism, Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf, also condemned the incident: "I strongly condemn the criminal behavior of marginalized youth who attacked IDF soldiers today in the city of Bnei Brak. This is not the way of the Torah. We owe gratitude to IDF soldiers who risk their lives to protect the people and the land."
