Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened the coalition leaders earlier today (Monday) for a special discussion and decided that the conscription law would be advanced in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, and would not be postponed by six months as previously planned, as reported by Moti Castel.

The Minister of Construction and Housing, Yitzhak Goldknopf, said in a meeting that took place that we should not draft Haredim by force, but rather by agreement. Minister Michael Malchieli added that while he was Minister of Defense, Gallant thwarted any possible attempt to achieve genuine and consensual recruitment.

"This is a new opportunity now with Israel Katz to bring a good law," claimed the government secretary, Yossi Fox.

In response to their remarks, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said: "My society sacrifices a lot, we need a positive statement from you as the leadership of the Haredim regarding recruitment."

In conclusion, the Prime Minister declared that he would not postpone the law by six months: "We are collecting data from the IDF and security forces," he said and added: "We must and are capable of passing a law that meets Israel's security needs." Also, mention the two threats the government needs to address: "the Iranian threat and the conscription law."
