American actress and author Mayim Bialik, best known for her role as Amy in the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, has shared a post expressing solidarity with Israeli citizens on her Instagram following recent heavy rocket barrages by Hezbollah, which included a direct hit in the city of Kiryat Bialik.
“You may have seen that Iran-backed Hezbollah hit Kiryat Bialik this weekend,” she wrote. “Thousands of rockets have been fired upon Israel by Hezbollah over the last year, and the situation in the north is intensifying in terrifying ways.”
Notably, Bialik mentioned the connection between her last name and the city, stating, “Kiryat Bialik is named after my great-great-grandfather's first cousin, Chaim Nachman Bialik, the poet laureate of Israel. He was a Zionist visionary, a gifted poet, and a lover of Israel.”
She concluded her heartfelt post, which has garnered nearly 34,000 likes, by stating, “My heart is with all the innocent citizens of Kiryat Bialik.”
Bialik, who is open about her Jewish heritage and ties to Israel, has been vocal on social media since the deadly Hamas attack on October 7. She has actively advocated for the release of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza and collaborated with fellow Israel advocates like Noa Tishby to raise awareness about the events of October 7, the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, and rising antisemitism. This comes at a time when many in the entertainment industry remain silent or express anti-Israel sentiments.
