Arab terrorists set fire to the ancient synagogue in Samo in Mount Hebron early in the morning and sprayed graffiti of Hamas on the place. A preliminary investigation shows that a number of masked men arrived at the scene around 6:45 in the morning and began to burn the ancient synagogue. Firefighting forces arrived at the scene and took control of the fire.
Eliram Azoulai, head of the Mount Hebron Council, said in response to the incident: "The serious incident of the burning of the ancient synagogue in Samo tonight by Arab terrorists is a terrorist incident by all means and must be treated as such. This is an attempt to erase the Jewish identity and signs from the regions of our ancestors.
"I call on the security authorities to deal with the issue seriously and to protect the synagogue. The council under my leadership takes the matter very seriously, tomorrow morning I will go up to the ancient synagogue to read Slichot and I invite the residents of Mount Hebron to join me. The event is of course coordinated with the security forces and this is the beginning for us to maintain The past, present and future of the mountain. We will continue to protect the area and continue to demand security.'
