Defense Minister Yoav Gallant arrived today (Friday) at the northern border, and held an operational preparation discussion with the commander of the 91st Division, Lt.-Col. Shay Claffer, the division commanders and staff officers.
During the visit, Gallant received an overview of the division's activities in defense and attack, and discussed the readiness of the forces for possible offensive developments in the sector. He also had a conversation with the commanders of the divisions operating under Division 91, and heard from them about the defense operations in the area and the offensive missions. to thwart Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon.
"The enemy wanted exhaustion - he gets exhaustion"
"The enemy wanted exhaustion - he receives a beating. There is blow after blow at the central operatives, in the chain of command - dramatic moves in taking away the missile and rocket capability and many, many other operations that are being carried out. These operations are also being carried out from the air, from the sea and you have to be prepared from your section," Gallant said.
"Use the time to prepare for anything that may happen. You have tasks, we must change the security reality in the north with all the implications of the matter. And we owe it to the residents of the north and the residents of the country, the children who lived here in the valley or elsewhere in the Galilee - we cannot be in this situation. The meaning of this matter is to reach a situation where we remove the threat - both far and near and allow people to safely return to their homes."
Gallant added that "I trust you and the IDF in every mission. What you have seen in the last two weeks has resulted in another Hezbollah organization and we need to take advantage of this. And the aspect of continuity, continuity in the battle and taking advantage of the success is a key thing.' Gallant: Hezbollah suffers from apprehension, fear and control problems.
"I look at how Hezbollah behaves - it's also a problem of ability, it's also a problem of apprehension and fear, and a problem of control. I mean, it is also the ability to launch and initiate ground operations and seize the territory as you say here. It is also a problem that they ask themselves: 'If I do, what will happen?'. And finally, the fact that commanders are missing in the chain of command is a dramatic thing and in the context of Radwan - the dramatic, most significant action that happened on Friday exactly a week ago changed a lot."
"We have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, me personally too, not just in the last year, many years. We have open accounts here with many parties for many years and in the end, we want to live here properly, both here and in the more western sectors. So go ahead, take advantage of the time and surprises usually come together for both the enemy and our forces, we will give you the biggest warning we can, but the dynamics are known. Good luck."
