Jewish students at Columbia University have faced a torrent of antisemitic violence and harassment, including being chased out of dorms, receiving death threats, spat upon, and physically assaulted. The Ivy League institution has been described as having descended into a "cesspool of antisemitic hate" following Hamas’ Oct. 7 raid on Israel.

These harrowing details were revealed in a comprehensive 91-page report released on Friday by the university’s faculty-led antisemitism task force. The document exposes the deep-seated antisemitism that has infiltrated the campus community.

According to the report, students reported being shoved, pushed to the ground, and berated for supporting Zionist causes. They witnessed Israeli flags being burned and encountered swastikas scrawled in their dorms.

The task force documented incidents of students being denied access to public spaces and opportunities solely based on their Jewish or Israeli identity. The testimony of nearly 500 students detailed instances of visibly observant Jews being pinned against walls and having their jewelry ripped off while attending synagogue, as well as being spat on and subjected to ethnic slurs on campus.
