Agreement reached between University of Windsor and anti-Israel activists

Canadian Jewish organizations express deep disappointment over the agreement, which they perceive as a capitulation to the demands of the protesters.

Canadian Jewish groups voiced strong disapproval on Wednesday after the University of Windsor in southwestern Ontario reached an agreement with anti-Israel protesters. The agreement, seen by many as a concession to the protesters' demands, has caused significant concern.

CTV News reported that the University confirmed reaching an agreement with the University of Windsor Student Alliance (UWSA) and students involved in a pro-Palestinian Arab encampment set up on campus in May.

A Palestinian Solidarity Group statement on Instagram celebrated the agreement, claiming it "forcefully declares Israel an occupying power" and compels the university to strengthen its human rights focus, particularly regarding weapon manufacturers.

Criticizing the agreement in a post on social media site X, The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) stated: “We are dismayed that the University of Windsor has capitulated to the harmful demands of the encampment protesters. We are working closely with Jewish students and faculty while coordinating with the local federation and community stakeholders.”
