Soroka Hospital announced Tuesday that a baby girl died hours after she was born due to an unexpected event of placental separation.

"This is an unexpected and inevitable event of placental separation during childbirth, and despite the rapid treatment of the woman and the birth and despite the efforts of the medical staff, the doctors were forced to pronounce the baby dead," the hospital said.

Earlier today, Ichilov Hospital also reported that the condition of a baby girl who was born at night deteriorated rapidly, and a few hours after her birth, the medical team was forced to pronounce her dead.

The hospital is examining the circumstances of the case and has reported it to the Ministry of Health.
