Israel-Gaza War: 3,200 Soldiers Needed Medical Treatment

Since the beginning of the fighting, about 3,221 soldiers were injured, of which 2,438 were evacuated to the various hospitals. In the ground maneuver, 1,713 fighters were injured, the air force carried out 431 helicopter evacuations.

The average evacuation time for the wounded is about one hour and 6 minutes, a time that is considered significantly shorter compared to previous Israeli wars. 100 wounded received a dose of plasma. According to the injury data: 155 eye injuries, 300 acoustic injuries and approximately 60,150 doses of blood were donated.

In the field of mental health, about 9,000 contacted the mental health officer since the beginning of the war, 75% of them returned to combat. The medical team includes over 80 women who joined the fighters in the ground maneuver fighting shoulder to shoulder and tending to the wounded under fire.

For the first time, the Medical Corps is deploying on the battlefield brigade evacuation teams that travel on armored personnel carriers or other heavy vehicles and include an advanced medical team - doctors who are experts in the field of surgery, trauma or anesthesia and have means for advanced monitoring, whole blood and more.
