Just a little more than a week before the start of the 'Iron Swords' war, the severe damage and destruction caused to Hezbollah as a result of the IDF's activities in southern Lebanon have been revealed.
According to a report by 'Israel Hayom' journalist Shahar Kleinman, the newspaper "Al-Akhbar," which is close to Hezbollah, published data this morning regarding the damage to villages in southern Lebanon, which served as a defensive line for the Hezbollah terrorist organization and from which most of the organization's activities were conducted.
According to the report, 7,000 housing units in Beirut (mainly in Dahieh) and in the Mount Lebanon district were completely destroyed. In the areas of the Beqaa Valley, Baalbek, and Al-Hermel in the eastern part of the country, it is estimated that there are 5,000 destroyed housing units. In southern Lebanon, it is estimated that 28,000 housing units have been destroyed – 4,500 of them north of the Litani River, and the rest south of it.
The report further indicates that the estimated total cost of reconstruction in Dahieh alone stands at 630 million dollars, with the number of housing units destroyed so far amounting to 17,000. However, this number is expected to increase with every attack on the southern district of the Lebanese capital. In the southern Lebanon and Bekaa regions, the cost of rehabilitation at this stage stands at 2.3 billion dollars. In Hezbollah's construction fund, they estimate that it will take between three to five years to rebuild the destruction from the moment the ceasefire begins.
Additionally, "Al-Akhbar" also reported that engineering teams examined the areas of Haret Hreik and Al-Merjeh. In these neighborhoods, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and senior organization member Sheikh Naim Qassem were eliminated in the summer. According to the teams' assessment, the missiles used in these attacks did not cause significant damage to the surrounding buildings, only causing them to crack.
