Kikar HaShabbat reporter Yishai Cohen interviewed today (Wednesday) Air Force pilot Major A, who is at the frontline of the war in Gaza. In his words, A talked about the connection between the soldiers at the base, which comes in contrast to the discourse heard over the past year about the refusal and division.
"I will say gently that the image shown in the media does not reflect reality," said A. "There is variety here in the squadron, any type you want - religious, secular, kibbutzniks, urban, all denominations, all colors. There is everything from everything."
When asked what has been going through his mind in recent months, A. said: "I finally know what the truth is, what is happening here, and who the people are here. Even if the media tries to present a certain image - we know who we are."
He also clarified that "on October 7th, everyone showed up without exception at the time of the briefing. I was sure all along that this was what would happen, I had no doubt. As soon as they needed each of the squadron's members, everyone showed up and defended the country regardless of who they voted for by citizenship. We are a month into the fighting, from the first moment there was no dilemma or differences of opinion. We are all united."
