The residents of Tzfat were woken up early this morning (Friday) to air raid siren after Hezbollah launched approximately 20 rockets at the city, Israeli military officials said.
The IDF reported that most of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, with the remainder falling in open areas.
No casualties were reported. The rocket barrage ignited a significant fire in the Birya Forest north of Tzfat. By early morning, authorities reported that the fire had been brought under control.
Hezbollah said it had targeted a military installation near Tzfat in response to an Israeli strike in the Lebanese village of Kfarjouz on Thursday, which reportedly killed three people, including at least one Hezbollah member.
The exchange is part of a broader pattern of escalating violence along the Israel-Lebanon border. Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have conducted near-daily attacks on Israeli communities and military posts, citing solidarity with Gaza.
Diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation have so far yielded limited results.
