About an hour before the end of the Sabbath, two urban security patrol officers of Tel Aviv, including Amir, noticed a suspicious individual. The officers approached the assailant and asked him to identify himself. At that moment, the terrorist, a 27-year-old man from the village of Rumana near Jenin, pulled out a handgun and opened fire at close range towards the officers, hitting Amir. Amir was critically injured by the gunfire, while the second officer managed to draw his weapon, shoot the assailant, and neutralize him at the scene.

Chen Amir, aged 42, married to Vered and father of three daughters, was killed while preventing a major terrorist attack and saved many lives with his sacrifice. From the hospital, it was reported that his family, in an act of immense bravery, agreed to donate his organs to save lives.

The Commissioner, Kobi Shabtai, spoke with the officer who neutralized the terrorist and said: "There is no doubt that your quick and professional action saved lives. Just a few meters away from us, one can see the coffee shops full of people, and we can understand the magnitude of the disaster that was prevented, all thanks to your alertness and determination."

In the documentation, one can see one of the municipal officers chasing after the terrorist, while diners sitting in nearby restaurants run in fear. Moments later, the officer can be seen drawing his weapon towards the terrorist and firing at him.
