Hamas Hostages

Hersch Goldberg-Polin's family wants you to watch Hamas video: "It's a wake-up call"

Israelis are devastated and furious, in equal parts, and they are begging Netanyahu to bring their hostages home, as Hamas increases its propaganda efforts.

In a gut-wrenching twist, Hamas just dropped a video of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, the famous 23-year-old American-Israeli hostage who was recently executed by Hamas, alongside 5 other Israeli hostages.

But here's the surprising thing: his family wants you to see it.

"It's a wake-up call," the Goldberg-Polins said, still deep in their week of Shiva. They're hoping this footage lights a fire under everyone to save the 101 hostages still stuck in Gaza.

Hersh, looking straight at the camera, talks about his California roots and the hellish conditions he endured. It's as bad as you can imagine.

This video's part of a series Hamas promised, featuring six hostages found executed last weekend, whose bodies were brought back to Israel for burial.

It's stirring up a storm in Israel, with Israelis taking to the streets to express their fury and heartbreak and demanding Netanyahu focus on bringing everyone home.

It's the kind of bravery we have come to expect from Jon and Rachel Goldberg-Polin who led an indefatigable year long campaign to get their son back, although it tragically failed.

Their bold move is a raw, painful reminder of what's at stake, mixing personal heartbreak with the messy politics of war. And it's got everyone talking about what comes next.
