Anjem Choudary, a British radical Islamist preacher known for his inflammatory rhetoric, has been convicted of multiple terrorism offenses following a landmark trial in London, the Metropolitan Police reported.
The 57-year-old Choudary was found guilty of directing the terrorist organization al-Muhajiroun, which was banned over a decade ago, and for actively promoting and inciting support for the group.
The trial highlighted Choudary's praise for terrorist attacks and extremist violence, including his controversial statements about the September 11 terrorists and the Mumbai attackers.
Choudary is now facing a significant prison sentence, with his sentencing set for July 30.
