After 3 weeks: The National Security Headquarters announced this evening (Wednesday) the removal of the severe travel warning imposed on Sri Lanka on October 23, following which Israelis were called to leave immediately from areas in the south and west of the country due to updated information on terror threats. The update comes following situational assessments, defensive measures taken, and the arrests of several terrorist operatives who were planning to harm Israelis in the country, which have reduced the threat level in the country.
According to the IDF's announcement, the threat level is being updated from level 4 (high threat) in the southwestern part of the country and level 3 (medium threat) in the rest of Sri Lanka, to level 2 – occasional threat – for the entire country.
Despite the removal of the severe travel warning, Israelis residing in the country are advised to take the necessary precautions for Level 2 countries (occasional threat), with an emphasis on updating local security forces if exposed to hostile activities targeting Israelis/Jews, and minimizing Israeli/Jewish symbols.
