Unofficial Syrian sources report an air strike in Sayyidah Zaynab, considered an Iranian bastion, in the Damascus area a short time ago today (Monday).

Casualties have been reported from the strike.

Israel Hayom reports that according to an Assad-affiliated radio station, the strike was directed at three points in the Damascus suburbs, including Sayyidah Zaynab, the hotel near the Damascus airport and the area around a nearby village.

The IDF has been continually bombing Iranian and Hezbollah targets in the southern Syria area since the war began for a number of reasons, including eliminating high-ranking Iranian and Hezbollah officers, and interdicting weapons and materiel supplies to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Some foreign sources suggest that the IDF has also been engaged in covert ground operations near the border to clear mines for a possible land operation and subsequent land siege of border crossings to further strangle Hezbollah
