Globes: Kenya interested in buying advanced air defense system from Rafael defense company

According to Globes, this would mean Israeli penetration of the African market, which only amounted to 1% of Rafael sales in 2023.

Kenya is in advanced negotiations to acquire Rafael's advanced anti-air SPYDER system, according to a report by Globes.

The SPYDER system is a mobile and fast acting system capable of engaging aircraft, helicopters, unmanned air vehicles, drones, cruise missiles and precision-guided munitions.

If the deal goes through, it will mean Rafael is penetrating into the African arms market, after having sold just 1% of its equipment to countries in the continent.

Israel's reputation for anti-air defense systems, buttressed by the successful defense against Iran's drone and missile attack a few weeks ago, has also gotten the attention of other countries, including Greece, according to Globes.
