In the shadow of the security tensions and the unusual events that have occurred in recent times on the Lebanese border, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, today (Tuesday) toured along the northern border, in the Galilee formation, together with the commander of the Northern Command, Major General Uri Gordin, Lieutenant Colonel Shai Klapper and the command's senior officers.
Gallant observed and assessed the situation in the Mount Dov area, and discussed the latest developments in the region. Later, he received from the commanders an overview of the defense efforts being made along the border, and of the progress of the construction of the barrier that is being carried out these days. At the end of the tour, the Minister of Defense held a commanders' dialogue with the commanding general, the commanders of the brigades and battalions. In his words, the minister emphasized the importance of speeding up the construction of the barrier, and strengthened the forces for their activity in the face of the growing challenges in the region.
At the end of the visit, Gallant said: "I arrived at the northern border this morning, in order to closely follow the events that have been happening here recently. I met here with the commanders of the IDF and the fighters - we have excellent commanders and determined fighters. We will know how to protect the citizens of Israel and the State of Israel in any way. The enemy needs to understand that when it comes to Israel's security - we are all united."
He also added: "I warn Hezbollah, Nasrallah - not to make a mistake. You have made mistakes in the past, you have paid very heavy prices. If, God forbid, an escalation or conflict develops here, we will return Lebanon to the Stone Age. We will not hesitate to use all our power, and wear out all of Hezbollah and of Lebanon if we need to."
