Multiple rocket alerts sounded across central Israel Sunday evening as Hezbollah launched what the IDF confirmed was a ballistic missile toward Tel Aviv metropolitan area. The missile was successfully intercepted by Israel's air defense systems.
Strong explosions were heard across the Dan region, with interceptors visible in the skies over Herzliya, Rosh Ha'ayin, and other central cities. The IDF spokesperson confirmed that several launches were detected from Lebanon targeting the Yarkon, Sharon, and Dan regions.
The attack comes with an explicit message from Hezbollah, with a spokesperson close to the organization stating "Beirut's fate is Tel Aviv's fate," suggesting this was retaliation for recent strikes on Lebanon's capital. Hezbollah's deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem had warned days earlier that "central Beirut equals central Tel Aviv."
The IDF continues to monitor the situation as tensions escalate along Israel's northern border. Residents in central Israel have been advised to remain near protected spaces.
