The deal - a recipe for more war?

Northern moshav chair blasts agreement with Hezbollah

"This paves the way for a Fourth Lebanon War and threatens northern settlements," warns the Chairman of Margaliyot Eitan Davidi.

Eitan Davidi, chairman of Margaliot, a moshav right on the Lebanese border, sharply criticized the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon on Thursday morning, claiming that it harms the residents of the north.

"It's a scandalous agreement, we didn't dream that we would reach this day when we would have to sign such an agreement and return home under these conditions," Davidi said in an interview with 103FM.

He added, "We have seen Hezbollah for many years pointing weapons at us. We thought we were going to war, I said all along that we would give the government all the time to end the incident in the south, to bring about the return of the hostages and bring us home safely. We asked all along that the distance between us and the villages of Hezbollah members in Lebanon be removed to 2-3 kilometers.

Davidi directed his anger at the government. "We could have crushed them more. I've been to these villages too...So why did we enter Lebanon? To destroy? What is our victory in the north? How many terrorists we killed? How many villages we destroyed? Our victory is that the residents can return home safely. And if everyone says they're not sure they're coming home and that they don't want to come back, then what does that mean to the Israeli government?"

"I don't trust the Prime Minister in anything he does, everything he touches is a failure...We need a buffer zone that will give us quiet. The government didn't bring that. The situation is leading to the Fourth Lebanon War and the dismantling of the northern settlements. I call on the residents of the north – don't go back. They send us like sheep to be slaughtered," he concluded.
