Hezbollah, War in Lebanon, Avigdor Kahalani

Brig. Gen. (res.) and former Public Security Minister Avigdor Kahalani called on Channel 14 on Sunday to defeat the Hezbollah terrorist organization without a ground maneuver in Lebanon.

He explained: "I remember 2006, I was also there in 1982 in Beirut with my division. Hezbollah has Kornet missiles that can hit tanks from a distance of up to 8 kilometers. This war is different from its predecessors, and therefore their vital infrastructure – water, electricity, gas, and the airport – must be damaged. That way they will understand the price they are paying for their attacks."

Kahalani explained that Hezbollah is acceptable to parts of the Lebanese people, but when the people suffer because of the organization's actions, questions will begin to surface: "Why don't they have water? Why is there no electricity? Why are buildings collapsing?" He added that frustration would be directed at Hezbollah, which would lose its power, while Israel would avoid blame because it was acting in self-defense.

Referring to the recent actions of the Israel on the northern border, the former minister said, "The color has returned to my cheeks. After a year of humiliation, the State of Israel is beginning to fight back – and this is an important achievement, albeit a late one. We regain our respect. Now the question is how we will continue to conduct the campaign, with what intensity, and when the Americans will try to stop us."
