Former City Council member and Lt.-Col. (res.) Yaron Hanan addressed the possible scenario of a war in the north, describing what Haifa will go through in the first few days.
Hanan, an expert in risk management, told Walla News that "the scenario for the first few days is truly terrible because we are dealing with between hundreds and 1,500 missiles a day towards the metropolis of Haifa and towards the civilian infrastructure of the city."
Hanan said that "this could lead to dozens of destroyed buildings and hundreds of dead. Commerce will be hit hard and it will harm supply. It will be difficult to maintain functional supermarkets. It's very easy to hit a big city. You'll always hit something. Suffice for 10% to pass the aerial defense that means we're dealing with a hundred missiles a day and we are in a catastrophe."
He added that "these attacks may come without a siren. In the last few months we learned that this could certainly happen. The shelters and not a few safe areas in the city will not be effective if there is no warning to run to them."
Hanan revealed that "many people tell me that in such a situation they are leaving the city. The stronger populations will evacuate themselves, to other places, to relatives or a hotel, even abroad. I am worried but not at the level of panic and not at the level of hysterics. We will survive this because after a few days the damage in Lebanon will be so heavy that the IDF scenario is that they will cry 'Uncle!'."
