A key figure in Hezbollah's air defense unit, Maytham Mustafa al-Attar, was killed in an Israeli drone strike in northeastern Lebanon on Saturday, according to the IDF.
The IDF described al-Attar as "a significant source of knowledge" for Hezbollah's air defense operations. He was reportedly involved in planning and executing attacks against Israel, as well as procuring Iranian weapons for the Lebanese militant group.
Al-Attar was targeted while driving near the town of Shaat in the Baalbek district, approximately 100 kilometers from the Israeli border. The IDF stated that his elimination deals "a blow to the capabilities of Hezbollah's air defense unit."
According to Israeli military sources, al-Attar had gained expertise through visits to Iran. Hezbollah has confirmed his death, bringing the group's reported casualty count to at least 361 since the start of the Israel-Gaza conflict.
