IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari addressed the incident where World Central Kitchen employees were apparently killed by IDF fire (Tuesday), stressing to the founder of the WCK that the army would investigate the matter.”
Hagari issued a statement to the foreign press, saying that an incident took place leading to the tragic death of workers of the World Central Kitchen while fulfilling the vital mission of feeding those who need it. As a professional army committed to international law, he said that the IDF is committed to examining its actions in-depth and transparently.
Hagari spoke with WCK founder, chef Jose Andres, expressing the IDF’s condolences to the families and to the whole organization.
Hagari said that the incident will be investigated by the General Staff investigating body, which is he said is independent, professional, and expert.
He added that the IDF has been working closely with the WCK in the past few months to help them feed Gazan civilians as the war rages. He also noted that the organization helped Israelis after October 7 – indeed, they were one of the first organizations to do so.
He ended by noting that the work of the WCK is critical, and that they would get to the root of the matter and transparently present the findings to the public.”
