The intelligence information that led to the successful raid on Shifa

The IDF spokesman called the Shifa operation one of the most successful since the beginning of the war. Hundreds of terrorists were killed and others arrested, among them senior members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

The Shayetet 13 commando unit under the command of the 162nd Division continues to operate in Shifa Hospital. Platoon commander Lt. Col. A recounted the operation: "On the night between Sunday and Monday, in a targeted operation, the 401st and Shayetet 13 unit raided Shifa Hospital in Gaza."

"The operation was launched with the help of accurate intelligence information about the return of terrorists and the Hamas establishment to the hospital. During the raid, we found many weapons hidden among medical equipment, among patients, and among hospital guards. During the surgical operation, we separated the patients and the terrorists from the guards. We killed the terrorists and detained hundreds of others."

Earlier, IDF spokesman, Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, said that, "170 terrorists were caught in and around the Shifa hospital while fighting our forces. The IDF arrested suspected terrorists collaborating with Hamas or the Islamic Jihad. This was the top surgical operation since the beginning of the war."

The IDF spokesman also pointed out that Hamas uses emergency rooms for terrorist purposes, exploits local civilians, and hides behind medical teams. According to him: "The IDF operates in a very controlled manner and protects sick civilians and medical staff inside the hospital. We do this because we distinguish between Hamas and the civilian population. Our war is against Hamas and not against Gazan civilians."
