Following an air strike in Lebanon in which a Lebanese Army soldier was killed, the IDF Spokesperson issued an apology for the incident and clarified that IDF fire is aimed at Hezbollah, not the Lebanese Army.

The IDF Spokesperson’s statement read: “Earlier today, IDF soldiers acted in self-defense to eliminate a close threat identified from Lebanon. The threat was identified from a known launch sight and observation point of the Hezbollah terror organization, next to al-Awadi. The activity of Hezbollah in Lebanon is a blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.”

“The IDF was informed that Lebanese soldiers were hit.” The IDF stressed that “the Lebanese Armed Forces were not the target of the strike. The IDF expresses regrets for the event. The incident is being investigated.”
