IDF forces continue to operate in the heart of Gaza Strip. Today (Thursday), the IDF Spokesperson stated that IDF forces have eliminated over 50 Hamas terrorists in direct combat in the Hamas security quarter in the Gaza City Center. The forces also exposed and destroyed tunnels, weapons, and weapons manufacturing tools and launching positions.
According to the statement, the 162nd Division has operated at the center of the city of Gaza in the area of the Hamas security quarter. Infantry, armored, and engineering forces of the 162nd Division, with the support of Air and special forces, raided the security quarter of the Hamas terror organization in the heart of the city of Gaza near the Shifa hospital.
The security quarter is the heart of Hamas’ intelligence and operational activity and served among other things for preparing and planning the October 7 Massacre. During the last few days, infantry, armored, and engineering forces of the Givati Brigade’s battle team worked to clear the area and neutralize terror infrastructures there, including an extensive underground infrastructure, alongside continuous fighting and the elimination of dozens of terrorists.
In the Hart of Gaza: Hamas Tunnels and Bases Destroyed, More Than 50 Terrorists Eliminated
So far, over 50 terrorists have been eliminated in the fighting. Intelligence documents were also found, as well as a significant number of tunnel shafts, weapons warehouses, and anti-tank missile launch positions. The security quarter also contains the Hamas interior ministry and a police station as well as serving as the central intelligence and air defense headquarters.
In addition, the compound includes the largest training installations in the Gaza Strip for fighting in built up areas, military outposts, weapons warehouses and factories for things like rockets, anti-tank missiles, drones, and improvised bombs. The quarter also contains commanders’ offices, underground infrastructures, and war rooms from which Hamas directs the fighting and its firepower.
The IDF Spokesperson ended by stressing that “all the terror infrastructures noted above are in the heart of the civilian population. This is further proof of the cynical use the terror organization makes of the residents of the Gaza Strip as a human shield for its murderous terror activity. The fighting in the security quarter area is ongoing.”
