IDF fighter helicopters, following intelligence provided by the Shin Bet, eliminated Ibrahim Biari, commander of Hamas’ Central Jabalia Battalion and one of the leaders of the Simchat Torah Massacre on October 7. The strike also hit many Hamas terrorists.
Since the entry of IDF forces into the Gaza Strip, Ibrahim Biari directed the overall fighting in the northern Strip. He was also involved in sending the terrorists who committed the attack on Ashdod Port that killed 13 Israelis. He was also responsible for directing rocket fire on Israel for two decades and pushing many terrorist attacks against Israel.
The elimination was part of a broader strike against terrorists and terror infrastructures belonging to the Central Jabalia Battalion, which took over civilian structures in the city of Gaza. The strike seriously harmed Hamas’ command and control of the sector and its ability to direct terrorist activity against IDF forces operating in the Strip. Many Hamas terrorists were killed in the strike, and the organization’s underground military infrastructure collapsed.
The IDF repeats its call on the residents in the area to move south for their own protection.
