IDF confirms: "Top" terrorist nabbed in Nablus

The IDF confirmed it had arrested Muhammad Tanji, considered one of the key operatives in the refugee camp of Balata. Tanji was arrested after it became known that he was planning to carry out an attack in the immediate future.

Hours after Palestinian reports about IDF activity in the Balata refugee camp near Nablus, the IDF spokesman confirmed today (Tuesday) that the army had arrested terrorist Muhammad Tanji this morning at the direction of the Shin Bet. There had been intelligence reports that Tanji was planning to carry out an attack in the immediate future. The terrorist mastermind has been at the forefront of militant activities in the area.

According to the army's statement, the IDF detained a total of 21 terror suspects throughout Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley last night. In addition, the forces demolished the home of Abed Massad, who took part in a shooting attack last August in which Shai Nigarkar and his son Aviad (H"YD) were murdered. Osama Beni Fidel, the terrorist who carried out the attack, was arrested last November during a raid in Jenin.

In the village of Kobar, soldiers detained four terrorists, and in the village of Yata, one individual was arrested and terrorist funds confiscated. At the same time, in Ein Sultan and in Aqabat-Jaber in the Jordan Valley, three suspects were detained and a Carlo-type weapon confiscated. In the village of Jamal, soldiers confiscated two Carlo type rifles and military equipment. All the detainees were transferred to security forces for further questioning. No injuries were reported to our forces.

According to IDF data, approximately 3,450 terrorists have been arrested throughout Judea and Samaria since the beginning of Operation Swords of Iron; approximately 1,500 of whom are associated with Hamas.
