As rockets lit up Israel's skies, a different kind of light shone at Ben Gurion Airport tonight - the beaming faces of 74 French Jews who chose to make Israel their home despite the ongoing conflict.

Immigration Minister Ofir Sofer joined local Bnei Akiva youth movement members in welcoming the new arrivals, who were greeted with Israeli flags, traditional dances, and heartfelt embraces. The Lod chapter youth members turned the arrival hall into an impromptu celebration.

It's moments like these, when the true spirit of Israel and Israelis shines through, and it makes all of us prouder than ever to be Jewish and to live in this magnificent land.

Welcome home!
