Givatayim Mayor Announces Departure from X/Twitter After Supreme Court Denies His Right to Block Accounts

Givatayim Mayor Ran Kunik posted what he says was his "last tweet for now" in protest against a Supreme Court decision forcing him to lift a block on a constituent's account from his own private account, according to Globes.

Kunik protested this order against an account which was personal, not official, and which seemed to be solely targeted at him and not public officials as such, whom he claims block accounts all the time.

The Supreme Court justices who handed down this ruling did so despite or perhaps because the question of public figures' social media accounts is not clearly delineated by law, and they expressed the hope that this lacuna would be filled soon.
