In a shocking wave of censorship, Meta has axed major Israeli and Zionist Instagram accounts without warning or explanation - just as Jewish communities face rising threats worldwide. The deactivated accounts include the elite Duvdevan military unit and the century-old Betar movement.
"It's absolutely sickening that while Hamas supporters openly call for Intifada and violence against Jews in the streets, Meta decides to silence Jewish voices," fumed Daniel Levy, Betar spokesman. "SJP and other pro-Hamas organizations freely push terrorist messaging while Jews can't even show photos of our soldiers or heroes without getting banned."
The targeted purge hit Duvdevan Israel, Duvdevan US, Betar US, and Betar International on Saturday morning. Meta offered no explanation and no way to appeal - a move critics call blatantly discriminatory.
"This is two-tier policing online, plain and simple," Levy charged. "One set of rules for Jews and another for everyone else. They mass report us while pushing violence, and Meta just rolls over."
The crackdown comes as Jewish communities already face mounting attacks. "In Pittsburgh, Jews are being beaten in the streets while SJP gets to mass-report Jewish organizations," said Ross Glick, Director of Betar US. "It's bewildering and terrifying that Meta can simply eliminate Jewish voices while antisemites run wild on their platform."
Other prominent Israeli voices like Yosef Haddad and Eylon Levy have also been muzzled recently. Meanwhile, accounts promoting violence against Jews continue operating freely.
As of Sunday, Instagram has maintained radio silence about its apparent double standard in enforcement.
