Israel's creative new approach

What's with Israel's viral 15,000 rocket emoji storm?!

Why did Israel's foreign ministry post 15,000 rocket emojis to their X account?

What looked like a bizarre hack of Israel's official X account was actually a powerful diplomatic message: each rocket emoji represents a real missile fired at Israeli civilians by Hezbollah since October 7th.

The Foreign Ministry's social media team posted approximately 14,900 rocket emojis in a thread that took users several minutes to scroll through. "Each emoji represents one rocket fired by Hezbollah at Israeli civilians since October 7, 2023," the account explained.

"It'll take you a long time to scroll through. Remember - every single one of these missiles was meant to kill Israeli civilians," the message stated.

The unusual post initially caused confusion, with many users suspecting a cyber attack on Israel's official account. However, it quickly became clear this was a deliberate campaign to visualize the scale of attacks Israeli communities have endured.
