Daniel Sundgren, Maccabi Haifa's right-back, has expressed his intention to leave the Israeli soccer vice champion due to the current security situation, according to Ynet.

The 33-year-old Swede's family is reluctant to return to Israel because of the ongoing war in Gaza and concerns about a possible conflict with Hezbollah in the north.

Sundgren, who joined the team in 2022, has been a standout player, significantly contributing to their progress to the Champions League group stage, including a key equalizer against Red Star Belgrade. Maccabi Haifa officials acknowledge his decision, noting they have three other right-backs: Ilay Feingold, Roey Elimelech, and Maor Kandil.
