Investigators of the Fraud Division in the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District have completed the investigation of a resident of Jerusalem in his 30s, who is suspected of fraudulently committing sexual offenses against many women. At the end of the investigation, a prosecutor's statement was submitted to the court, in preparation for filing an indictment against him.

According to the police statement, the suspect was arrested on August 22 after two years of filing complaints against him for impersonating and fraudulently obtaining consent to have sex. The fraud investigators of the Jerusalem District were able to locate over 30 women that the suspect knew on various online dating sites, where he presented himself as Jack Segal, a bachelor born in the USA and living in Israel.

The police investigation reveals that starting in 2017, the suspect had relationships with different women, some of them at the same time while misrepresenting his identity, his lifestyle, his family situation, and his future intentions within the relationship. It also appears from the findings of the investigation that many women agreed to have sex with the suspect after being deceived by him.

During the investigation by the police, which was carried out under the auspices of the prosecutor's office, testimonies were collected from dozens of women who allegedly fell victim to the actions of "Segal". Additional evidence was collected linking the suspect to the commission of the crimes attributed to him. As mentioned, today with the conclusion of the investigation, a prosecutor's statement was submitted against the suspect, when his detention was extended by four more days until September 14. In the coming days, the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office is expected to file an indictment against him.

"The acts of deceit and fraud of the suspect who led a double life, led to harm to many women, harm that accompanies them to this day. The unusual scope of the victims indicates the method he used time and time again to carry out his plot," the police said. "The Israel Police will continue to act against sex offenders who use social networks to fraudulently locate their victims."
