Captain Elad Siman Tov (24), an officer in the Golani reconnaissance unit, from the settlement of Tzofim in Samaria, fell while fighting in southern Lebanon.
He was from a veteran family in the settlement of Tzofim, in Samaria. He insisted on enlisting in Golani despite being assigned to the Armored Corps, after his cousin Shiloh Siman Tov, also a resident of Tzofim who was a Golani fighter, died in a car accident during his military service 6 years ago.
Elad leaves behind parents: Zeev and Eti, and 5 siblings. He was the fourth of his siblings.
Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Council, eulogized him: "The entire Samaria family mourns the passing of Elad, one of the country's finest, during Sukkot. Such a great loss. Elad was a righteous person, an officer and commander admired by his soldiers. The heart refuses to believe. Six years ago, we accompanied this dear family at Shiloh's funeral, and now Elad has fallen. We will only grow stronger. We will all embrace the family and always be with them."
Aviv Madmoni, chairman of the settlement said, "Elad was a man of truth, grew up here with us in the settlement of Tzofim. His cousin Shiloh Siman Tov, also a resident of the settlement, died in a car accident during his military service, and he followed in his footsteps to serve in Golani. It's difficult to tolerate this hard blow, bereavement has struck the same family twice. The entire settlement is in mourning, its heart is broken."
