Study shows Saudi textbooks more tolerant of Jews, slightly more neutral on Palestinian conflict

Among other things, Jews are no longer accused of "distorting" their scriptures and while Israel is not mentioned, the name "Palestine" has also been removed from some of the maps.

IMPACT-se, an NGO which studies school textbooks to see if they align with UNESCO's principles of tolerance, reports that Saudi textbooks have been made significantly more tolerant of Jews and somewhat more neutral on the conflict with the Palestinians.

According to a recent report, Saudi textbooks no longer claim that Jews "distorted" their holy texts, blame Israel for the attempted arson of al-Aqsa by a fundamentalist Christian in 1969, or describe Zionism as a "racist European movement."

While the name "Israel" does not appear on maps, the name "Palestine" has also been removed from some of the maps, as well.
