Palestinian rapper Saint Levant drew international condemnation after openly celebrating violent attacks against Jewish soccer fans in Amsterdam, where Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were run over by cars and chased with knives in what local officials called a "pogrom."
"Quick shoutout to our Moroccan brothers," Levant told his cheering Amsterdam audience. "It's not the first time they [Israelis] come to a land that's not theirs and start some shit. So thank you for taking care of business."
The violence, which saw organized gangs target Jews while shouting antisemitic slogans, was reportedly coordinated through Telegram channels calling for a "Jew hunt." Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema described the attacks as a "poisonous cocktail" of antisemitism and hooliganism.
When confronted on social media by Israeli activist Hen Mazzig, Levant doubled down, posting "keep crying" and defending the violence. "Israelis go around chanting 'death to Arabs' and think they're not gonna get beat up?" he wrote.
The Los Angeles-based rapper, recently signed to Universal Arabic Music, made these statements at Amsterdam's Paradiso venue, which later praised his show as "a journey of music, connection, and solidarity."
