Disney is reportedly considering terminating their contract with actress Rachel Zegler, who is set to star alongside Gal Gadot in "Snow White," following multiple PR controversies.
Zegler has faced criticism for several problematic behaviors affecting the film's publicity. Most recently, she posted a controversial Instagram story criticizing President-elect Trump and his supporters, writing: "I find myself speechless... There's a deep sickness in this country – shown by the massive number of people who voted for someone threatening our democracy. It's frightening... May Trump and his supporters never know peace."
She later deleted the post and issued an apology, stating: "I strongly believe everyone has the right to their own opinion, even when it differs from mine," adding, "I am committed to contributing positively toward a better tomorrow." Despite the apology, the damage appears to have been done, with Disney facing subscription cancellations and calls for boycotts.
This isn't the first controversy involving the outspoken actress. During the film's joint premiere with Gal Gadot, Zegler reportedly avoided eye contact with her Israeli co-star and supported social media calls to boycott the Israeli actress.
Previously, Zegler expressed reservations about the script of Snow White stating: "The cartoon was made 85 years ago and is therefore very outdated regarding women and their roles in the world," adding that "Snow White's love story with a guy who follows her is bizarre." (Never mind that Snow White is an absolute classic.)
This wokeism, along with the many other PR nightmares she single-handedly created, might just be her final ticket out of Disney.
