Unusual security incident on Highway 90

Following an unusual detection during morning scans near the border fence, numerous forces from the IDF, police, and emergency response units were dispatched for searches. Police checkpoints have been set up at several locations on the road.

Following an unusual security incident that has been ongoing in recent hours, Highway 90 in the Arava near the Jordanian border was intermittently closed this morning due to the activities of security forces.

An initial inquiry reveals that following an unusual detection during morning scans near the border fence, numerous forces from the IDF, police, and emergency response units were dispatched for the searches. Police checkpoints have been deployed at several locations on the road.

A short while ago, residents in the Faran area were informed that the event has concluded: "Hello, the event in the Faran area has concluded." It is likely that they are infiltrators seeking work. The matter is being handled by military and police authorities. We are back to routine. A calm and quiet Sabbath, Council Spokesperson.

A few days ago, the Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, and the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, approved the establishment of an eastern territorial division whose purpose is to protect the eastern border of the State of Israel. The decision was made following staff work that examined the operational needs and defense capabilities in the area, in accordance with the IDF's force-building plan in light of the lessons of the war and the situation assessment. The division will be subordinated to Central Command.

The division's mission is to strengthen defense in the border area, Route 90, and the settlements, and to respond to dealing with terrorist incidents and the smuggling of weapons, while maintaining a peaceful border and strengthening cooperation with the Jordanian army.
