A 45-year-old man was critically injured in an accident that occurred this evening (Wednesday) on Stella Maris Street in Haifa, after he apparently lost consciousness due to medical reasons and collided with the bus, medics and paramedics who were called to the scene gave the driver of the vehicle initial medical treatment, and then evacuated him to the Rambam hospital. The bus driver suffered minor injuries, and received medical treatment at the scene.
Magen David Adom medics Chai Takatash and Shabhah Rotenshreich recalled the scene saying that "we arrived at the scene and saw the injured man lying unconscious outside the car while passers-by were performing basic CPR on him. We continued to provide medical treatment and perform advanced resuscitation operations and evacuate him in an MDA intensive care vehicle to the hospital while continuing resuscitation operations as his condition is determined to be critical."
Senior rescue medic Shabach Rottenstreich added and reported: "When I arrived at the scene of the road accident with the MDA ambulance I have, I found a car driver, a man about 45 years old, unconscious without a pulse and without breathing after apparently collapsing and as a result colliding with the bus. Together with MDA medics and paramedics, we performed advanced resuscitation operations on him, which included administering life-saving drugs, and he was evacuated during the resuscitation operations for further treatment in the trauma room at the Rambam Hospital in the city. We also provided initial medical treatment to the bus driver, and he was evacuated in a lightly injured condition that will be easy to continue treatment in the hospital."
