Defense Minister Yoav Galant approved the issuance of an additional 7,000 orders for enlistment to Haredi conscripts, which are expected to be sent in the coming days. According to him, "This is a real operational need that requires broad national mobilization from all parts of society."
Another recruitment attempt: Defense Minister Yoav Galant held a discussion today (Monday) on the recruitment of members of the Haredi sector, with the participation of Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Deputy Chief of Staff Amir Baram, Head of the IDF Manpower Directorate Yaniv Asor, and the IDF's Chief Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi. During the discussion, IDF professionals presented the summary of the first phase's data and the lessons learned from the turnout of the first 3,000 orders that were sent.
At the end of the discussion, Gallant approved the IDF's recommendation to issue 7,000 additional orders for the selection and evaluation processes (first order) of draftees from the Haredi sector already during the upcoming phase – which is expected to commence in the coming days. The Ministry of Defense stated that the increase in the number of orders is intended to meet the recruitment target set.
Additionally, Gallant instructed that simultaneously, the IDF and the Ministry of Defense should continue to promote the conclusions of the "Shkedi Committee," as approved by the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff – with the aim of successfully integrating Haredim into significant roles while preserving their way of life.
"The war and the challenges ahead illustrate the IDF's need for additional soldiers," Galant said in concluding the discussion. "It is a real operational need that requires broad national mobilization from all sectors of society."
